Have you had a Natural Childbirth?
I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I am highly considering having a medication-free delivery, with minimal interventions. I don’t like the idea of them giving you medication just to speed up the process (*check out the business of being born video), and it terrifies me to think that I am just some number to the doctors and they just want the baby out.
How can I deal with labor pain though? The epidural is the one thing I definitely don’t want. Is morphine good enough for pain relief? Anyone have any ideas to make this as easy as possible on me? I’m very much looking forward to meeting my son, but I’m terrified for delivery! I don’t want my body “down there” to be screwed up forever because a doctor wasn’t willing to be patient with me.
I feel exactly the same way you do. Just thinking about how and where they give epidurals gives me the willies. But I’m also having my first baby (34 weeks along) so I dont really know what to expect either. I just know that every labor is differnt, but some good advice I’ve read is if you dwell on it too much, you’ll get afraid, and that fear makes people tense up. And the more you tense, the more pain you’ll be in. So I’m just planning on taking one day at a time and not asking for pain reliefe till I’m absolutly sure I want it. I’m going to try to face the pain instead of fighting it. And on the other hand I might chicken out.
But dont let anyone fill you with horror storries or tell you you’re crazy for wanting a natural birth. Only you know you best, only you know what you want and what you’re mind and body are capable of handling
