For people who have had home births?
I was talking to my midwife today and she suggested that I consider a home birth when it comes to having my baby. I had a really easy pain-relief free birth with my first, so I thought that it could be a great idea.
If you have had a home birth, did you have any concerns?
Did you feel that the care was better than the hospital, if you’ve had a hospital birth before?
What was your experience like?
Was it really messy and who cleaned everything up?
I am in the UK. I think the idea of knowing who is going to be delivering your baby is nice and being in the comfort of my own home is tempting.

My first was born at home during the early hours of Tuesday morning. She is 3 days old today. It was fantastic and I would do it all again tomorrow!
I had a posterior labour and I was only comfortable when I was standing and pacing about. The freedom of being to move from room to room and knowing the midwives who attended me made all the difference to my labour. I had two full days of prelabour with no sleep and when I was in established labour, it only took 4 and a half hours! I didn’t even get the chance of getting into my birthing pool.
My main concerns were just the usual ‘I hope everything goes okay’ concerns and about how my partner would cope. I found the website homebirth.org.uk fantastic for explaining what would happen if the situation changed. I understood that by having two midwives all to myself that if anything caused concern, it would be instantly picked up.
There was very little mess, just a load or two of washing. The midwives tidied up everything before they left.
The only thing I have found, is that most people seem a little shocked when they hear I had her at home but my husband quickly tells them it was a good decision! I think the homebirth actually suited him nearly better than me even though before he wished I would have her in the hospital just to be on the safe side. Hes glad I didn’t listen to him.
Sorry to have rambled on abit but it was the best experience it my life.
